Originally fitted with standard builder finishes, the residence was in need of a transformation that would better reflect the vibrant personalities and refined tastes of its owners. Interior designer Rubleen Sandhu of Preamble Design was tasked with breathing new life into the space, crafting a contemporary yet elegant home that blends modern aesthetics with classic elements, all while maintaining a harmonious and inviting atmosphere.
Eschewing invasive renovations, the design focused on creative space planning and curated furnishings to achieve a seamless facelift. Channeling the softer side of Mediterranean design, a neutral colour palette set the foundation, with layers of texture introducing subtle drama throughout the interiors. The result is a sophisticated yet durable home designed for comfortable living, with every element carefully chosen to withstand the test of time.
Upon entering, guests are immediately greeted by a striking patterned tiled floor that evokes the warmth of a traditional rug. This visual welcome is further enhanced by vibrant artwork lining the walls, offering a pop of color that contrasts beautifully with the neutral surroundings. The open floor plan creates a fluid connection between the living and dining areas, emphasising the sense of spaciousness.

Flanking the sofa are a pair of sculptural side chairs that introduce texture and visual intrigue, while a statement stone coffee table, inspired by Kelly Wearstler’s iconic designs, serves as the room’s focal point. “The moment I discovered this piece, I knew it was the perfect ‘it’ piece for the space,” Sandhu shares, highlighting the table’s ability to spark conversation.
