In this exclusive interview, we delve into the mind of Ar. Raksha PN, the visionary behind House of Artistry, as she shares her journey, design philosophy, and the quiet power of creating spaces that breathe.

Raksha’s design philosophy is centered on feeling before form. When asked to describe her work, she begins not with furniture or finishes, but with the intangible — the emotion that the space should evoke. “A space should evoke a feeling before it ever impresses visually,” she explains. Her work blends minimalism with warmth, using natural materials such as linen, wood, and stone to ground her designs in authenticity. Asymmetry and handcrafted elements add character, celebrating the beauty in imperfection. “When design feels both functional and personal, it resonates far more deeply,” she asserts.
“I wasn’t just fascinated by how spaces looked,” she reflects. “I cared about how they felt.” This emotive lens shapes everything she does—from concept to completion—turning every project into an immersive, personal narrative.
A Design Language Rooted in Emotion
Ask Raksha about her design philosophy, and she doesn’t begin with furniture or finishes—she starts with feeling. “A space should evoke a feeling before it ever impresses visually,” she explains. Her work dances between minimalism and warmth, favouring natural materials like linen, wood, and stone to ground her designs in authenticity. She embraces purposeful asymmetry and handcrafted elements, welcoming the charm of imperfection. “When design feels both functional and personal, it resonates far more deeply.”

Drawing inspiration from design studios like MuseLAB and Essajees Atelier, Raksha admires their ability to balance elegance with livability. “I’ve always admired Sarah Sham’s grace in balancing family, business, and creativity,” she shares, noting how it influences her approach to design — combining beauty with functionality in ways that feel effortless.
The Art of Listening
When Raksha takes on a new project, she approaches it as a blank canvas—open, observant, and full of potential. Her process starts with a question: What emotion should this space evoke? Sketches follow, as do mood boards layered with textures, tones, and tactile inspirations. But spontaneity remains key. “Some of the best design moments aren’t planned,” she says.
One of her proudest projects, The Color Pop Home, exemplifies this balance. With clients who loved vibrant hues but needed ample storage, Raksha embraced bold reds, yellows, and greens—pairing them with calm, neutral backdrops and cleverly concealed storage. “It taught me how colour and functionality can coexist without compromising serenity.”
Designing for the Now—and the Next
As Raksha’s design language evolves, she finds herself gravitating toward softer forms, sculptural curves, and earthy color palettes that exude warmth and calm. An undercurrent of nostalgia also informs her recent work, with mid-century influences making their way into her mood boards. “There’s something about the geometry and charm of the ’70s that feels both nostalgic and fresh,” she says.
Yet, for Raksha, the true future of design lies in emotional intelligence. “Clients are no longer asking for perfection. They’re asking for peace,” she observes. In a world where trends come and go, Raksha envisions a shift toward design that nurtures presence over perfection. “Design should be about listening more than speaking,” she asserts. This forward-thinking philosophy suggests a future where interiors are more than just aesthetically pleasing—they become sanctuaries of emotional well-being.
Function Meets Whimsy
Raksha’s commitment to harmonising function with whimsy defines her work. From maximising storage in compact urban apartments to designing built-in shelving that doubles as art galleries, her solutions are seamless and innovative. But it’s her ability to inject personality into every project that sets her apart. “Design is deeply personal,” she says. “It’s about understanding the soul of a space and how it can best serve its inhabitants.” Whether it’s bespoke artwork or thoughtful design details, Raksha’s projects are never one-size-fits-all. They are, above all, reflective of the people who live within them.
Looking ahead, Raksha is eager to explore more playful elements in her designs, incorporating bold patterns, vibrant color schemes, and unexpected design twists.
“Creativity shouldn’t be constrained—it should spark joy and bring a sense of discovery to every space,” she adds.

A Message to Emerging Designer
For those just stepping into the world of interiors, Raksha’s advice is as grounded as her design ethos:
“Don’t wait for things to be perfect. Start where you are. Passion, patience, and practice will take you further than waiting for the ‘perfect moment.”
In a world that’s constantly chasing the next big trend, Ar. Raksha PN stands for something quieter, deeper, and infinitely more enduring. With House of Artistry, she creates more than just beautiful spaces—she creates homes with heart, where people can feel grounded, inspired, and at peace.
