Studio Tattva crafts a penthouse that captures the infinite calm of the Arabian Sea and the spirited pulse of the city beneath.

Light filters through floor-to-ceiling windows, washing every surface in pastel shades that mirror the city outside. Beyond lies South Bombay, an unfolding panorama where the Arabian Sea melts into the sky. This isn’t merely a view; it’s a meditation on vastness. At Vyom, the 3,000 sq.ft. penthouse by Studio Tattva, clouds drift at eye level and sunlight sculpts serenity. In a city where vertical living often comes at the cost of breathing room, this home redefines the idea of space—both physical and emotional.

“This penthouse,” shares Aditi Savani, Founder and Principal Designer of Studio Tattva, “is about balance, the quiet pastels that reflect the city’s soft light and the bursts of quirk that reflect its personality.” Designed for a young business couple and their parents, the home embodies a mood of buoyant tranquility. The brief was simple yet ambitious: a home that feels like waking up to infinity.

An Entry that Sets the Stage

The experience begins with drama, a 20-foot-long entryway where a sculptural chandelier hovers above bold crimson seating and abstract planters. The play of colour and texture establishes rhythm before the home unfolds into two distinct wings: one leading to the master suite and study, the other to the parents’ and guest bedrooms. At the heart, the living, dining, and breakfast zones flow seamlessly, united by a concealed kitchen tucked behind a frosted glass panel that slides away to open up the space when desired.

Where Light Meets Line

The apartment’s soaring 12-foot ceilings, a rare luxury in Mumbai, are treated with quiet restraint. The pastel-toned envelope amplifies daylight, creating a dialogue between the city’s hazy horizon and the calm interior. Subtlety becomes a stage for surprise. In the living room, a textured wall with an earthy finish meets crisp white panels to form a serene backdrop for a sculptural artwork by Nitush Aroosh. Curvilinear furniture pieces seem to sway with the breeze outside, while bursts of saturated hues, a graphic rug here, a vibrant armchair there, animate the otherwise mellow palette.

Dining with a View

The dining area leans into understated glamour. A marble-topped table with gold-finished legs anchors the room, flanked by a custom-upholstered sofa on one side and sleek chairs on the other. Overhead, a bespoke chandelier glows like suspended poetry. The Boca do Lobo mirror, edged in gold, becomes a reflective canvas that captures shifting moods of the sea and sky, transforming with every hour of the day.

Behind the Frosted Veil

Just beyond, the kitchen introduces a playful counterpoint. The breakfast counter, dressed in exotic Amazon Green marble, conceals a bold surprise: rust-red cabinetry paired with white Caesarstone countertops and patterned Spanish tiles. The automated frosted glass panel, framed in brass, ensures the space transitions fluidly between open and private, social and silent.

Of Sky, Stillness, and Surprise

The master bedroom distills the essence of calm. Muted tones reminiscent of dawn’s first light meet sea-inspired blues in the upholstery, while a window-side bench invites pause. A cleverly integrated swivel TV unit merges seamlessly into the wardrobe, keeping the visual flow uninterrupted.

The guest bedroom continues the language of light and restraint, pairing monochrome greys with oak flooring and lime-washed curved panels for a touch of sculptural softness.

Through every space, Studio Tattva maintains a conversation between restraint and whimsy, inside and outside, stillness and movement. “There’s a capriciousness to the way the design unfolds,” Aditi reflects. “It is never loud, but always surprising.” In a city defined by constant motion, Vyom stands as an antidote, a home that not only rises above Mumbai but also opens itself completely to its infinite sky.
